Saegertown High School Speaks Out After Student Suicide
October 18, 2012-- After Jordan Shaffer took his own life, students at Saegertown High School wanted to raise awareness about suicide.
Students say their desire to wear yellow and grieve over Shaffer's death were frowned upon by school officials.
However the Penncrest Superintendent told us "Students are welcome to honor their classmate in this manner, so long as any activity is appropriate and not disruptive to the school environment."

The students have every right to be able to grieve for the loss of a close friend. They should have left them flowers alone cuz it aint that hard to go buy some new ones. All them kids want is to show their respect. There is nothing wrong with what those students have done to support families and friends for the loss of their loved ones.

As someone on the inside of this story, I find your reporting of the "facts" to be deplorable. Speaking to a group of angry and confused students and one badly misinformed parent (who, I've been told, does not even have a child attending the high school) does not result in an objective or truthful story. I suggest you get the facts next time. Better yet, don't exploit a tragic situation for your news ratings. Students were never banned from wearing yellow. Flowers were removed from the boy's locker only so they could be sent to the memorial service. This is what hapens when a lot of distraught teenagers rely only on one another, texting, and facebook for their information.

What kind of Principal would just try to sweep this poor boys suicide under the rug so to speak??? These kids NEED to grieve and go on with their lives, if you don't grieve, it CAN stay with you all of your life!! Maybe, this Principal needs counseling!!!
