OCTOBER 18, 2012- As the health care climate continues to change in the Erie region, UPMC Hamot hosted its annual dinner tonight celebrating its continuing growth.

The annual event brought UPMC Hamot's staff and supporters together honoring their work to serve the community.

Jeffrey Romoff, UPMC president and CEO, was the keynote speaker of the annual dinner.

He talked about the possible affiliation between Saint Vincent Health System and Highmark saying that Hamot welcomes competition and they will continue to serve the Erie community.

The evening began by honoring the strengths and accomplishments of UPMC Hamot's employees, physicians and supporters.

Jim Fiorenzo, President of UPMC Hamot, says a dedicated staff of employees who aren't afraid to take on a challenge are the reason why the hospital has been so successful.

This year UPMC Hamot brought in record numbers.

According to UPMC Hamot reports, revenue was up by $35 million dollars, and there was growth across the board including numbers up in admission, observation admits and even physicians.

UPMC Hamot CEO John Malone gave the closing remarks.

As his retirement is inching near, he thanked everyone for their continuous support.

Prior to dinner, Hamot received a $1 million dollar gift for a new Atrium from Suzanne and William Conner.
