John Evans Presents Big Check!

watch video
The Girard Lake City Chamber of Commerce received a hefty check for one of its community projects.

State Representative John Evans was in town to present a check from the Commonwealth for 10-thousand dollars.

The money will go to help with Girard's Community Calendar. The calendar provides information about Girard officials as well as community events throughout the year.

The chamber went through a competitive bidding process to receive this state funding. Last year's community calendar was based on an historical theme.  Next year's will focus on art from local students.

Following the check presentation, Representative Evans continued down the road to Fairview  to take part in an identity theft seminar for seniors.

Evans along with reps from the AARP provided tips to help ensure the elderly aren't struck by ID thieves.

Senior citizens are prime targets for identity theft and the AARP is working to stop that.
