Moving Day For Meadville City Officials

watch video

It's moving day for city officials in Meadville, as they say goodbye to their old home and move into their new one.

City Manager Joe Chriest tells us this move has been in the works for about a year... Today city officials packed up the old city building so they can be functioning out of the new armory by Monday.

It's been almost a year in the making... But city officials have packed up and moved out of their longtime home at the city building into their new home at the armory in Diamond Park... A $2.5 million project.

Chief of police Dave Stefanucci tells us his station was the first group to move... They're in the process of hooking up their computer servers, but the primary concern was setting up the dispatch.

The armory sits on three levels...the ground level being the police department along with six jail cells...

The first floor is where you can find the city administration... And the top floor is the mayor's office.

Chriest tells us there's still a lot of work to be done...and that includes outside...

They're working on a parking lot for the general public as well as police vehicles.

Chriest says the armory is about half the size of their current building, but given the changes in staff over the years, this building works much better.
