watch video

With all of the warnings about Hurricane Sandy sweeping through Pennsylvania in the next few days... It's important for people to know what they should do if we start feeling effects here in Erie...

Officials at Lowes tell us they had a line out the door this morning waiting to get last minute items in preparation for the storm... People started coming to places like Lowes over the weekend trying to stock up.

Millions of people could feel the effects of flooding, high winds, and rain all the result of hurricane sandy...

Coming up the east coast, people are being warned to prepare... And even here in Erie, experts at home improvement stores like Lowes are gearing their customers up for the effects of "Frankenstorm."

As soon as you walk into Lowes, you'll notice a display of items you'll need in case of emergency...

Experts say expect power outages with this storm... But they do have the proper equipment to handle it.

Flashlights for $10, batteries... That come in packs of eight for $11, blankets for $25, kerosene heaters that go for a couple hundred dollars, and generators...

Even flashlights that plug into the wall that can act as nightlights for $10... All of these lights will last at least four hours.

We're told the kerosene heater is the most important thing to have in your house in case the power goes out, because with the temperatures being so low, it will keep you warm.

Experts say it's better to be safe than sorry.
In a news conference, Governor Tom Corbett wants you to know that this is not a typical storm. It's historic in nature because of the widespread anticipated power outages, high winds, and flooding.

Corbett explains he has 1,600 National Guard Troops on standby ready to protect.
He goes on saying if you live in a flooded area be prepared to evacuate, don't go outside especially with power outages and trees down. Keep your refrigeraters full, have lots of water, and board up windows if necessary.
