Winds and rain are getting worse all due to Hurricane Sandy

The winds are really rough, at it's peak the gusts will go up to 60 mph..and it's only getting worse

This prompted the Erie School District and the Millcreek School District, among others to close for tomorrow; they don't want their students walking to school in these conditions.

In weather like this... it's always better to be safe than sorry...

Hurricane Sandy is making its way up the east coast reeking havoc and causing flooding and power outages for millions of people...

Here in Erie, people are making sure they have the necessary items they need just in case of emergency.

Some tell us they want to be safe by making sure their houses are secure... and having a stash of flashlights, candles, batteries and water always on hand.

The biggest worries among people in Erie concerning sandy are the wind gusts...resulting in trees down which could be dangerous.

Others are worried about power outages and not having heat in this cold...

Even at the Millcreek Mall... majority of the stores and restaurants closed hours early just to be safe.

Over 500 Penelec customers have lost power as of now.
