Accessing The Storm Damage At Presque Isle
Hurricane Sandy made a big impact along the east coast. Right here in Erie, Presque Isle, one of the areas usually affected when a storm passes, didn't have significant damage.
Fortunately officials say the initial assessment shows there wasn't a lot of damage done at the park and it fared a lot better than expected.
Waves were high last night. According to the assistant park manager, the park opened after its usual opening time of 5 am due to a few downed trees.
There was minimal to hardly any flooding at the park last night. There was a little flooding near beach six today.
Officials measured waves around midnight and believe the waves were 10 to 12 feet at beach ten.
The park did open today, however trails are covered with debris.
The annual fall beach walk is set for next week on November 8th.
