The Legend Of Sheepman

watch video
October 30th, 2012

We're off for a couple spooky trips down route 24.

Our first stop is in Waterford where Sheepman once roamed the back roads.

There are many stories on how Sheepman, half man, half sheep, came to be.

But DNA was not available back then so nothing was ever proven, but one thing is for sure.

Sheepman scared a lot of Waterford folks decades ago.

He had been terrorizing the town of Waterford in the 60's and 70's

Heidi Ladow is a Waterford resident and a member of the fort Lebeouf Historical Society.

A skeptic at first, she began to ask questions.

Heidi Ladow: "I thought it was crazy. I hadn't heard about him, but when I began to ask around everyone seemed to know about him."

Sheepman, is a gnarly creature with glowing red eyes that could burn your eyeballs if you looked them straight on.

Herb Kinney knows the story. "I was just a little kid, but Sheepman could scare any kid. He had big horns like a big horned sheep would have. Covered in fur, light colored, big claws."

The story goes that Sheepman lived in a cave along Bagdad Road but wandered to the nearby Waterford covered bridge.

Herb: "Down here in the area of the covered bridge is one of the places he was often found to lurk."

Heidi: "And then terrorize lovers who would come to the bridge."

There are no documented cases of Sheepman ever harming anyone, but townsfolk apparently weren't to friendly to this oddity.

Herb: "I knew somebody who claimed their father shot at the sheepman. He apparently missed. Maybe the Sheepman is still out there."

Maybe, hiding, just waiting to scare.

Sheepman lives. That's right, he does.

Happy halloween, happy halloween

So there you haaaaave it. Have it.

The legend of the Sheepman of Waterford.
