November 2, 2012-

Erie firefighters are on the scene of a fire at Brown Avenue Auto Sales and Service.

First units were dispatched about 1:45 pm.

Firemen began to spray water on the smoky blaze, but quickly called for more help. Traffic was quickly rerouted around the fire scene as firemen tried to keep the flames from adjacent buildings.

Chief Fire Inspector Guy Santone ruled the fire accidental and says it started in a furnace area by a vent pipe.

Santone says one man was inside but made it out without any injuries.

The building appears to be a total loss.
