Biggest Loser RunWalk Headed for Erie in 2013
November 15, 2012- The Biggest Loser RunWalk is hosting a Premier Destination Half Marathon/5K and one-mile Kids Race August 17, 2013 where participants will be passing through the beautiful picturesque beaches of Presque Isle State Park in Erie, PA. From the first-time runner to the elite athlete, The Biggest Loser RunWalk Erie Half Marathon/5K encourages visitors and locals to hit the pavement and gear up for an inspirational event in the heart of summer 2013. The Biggest Loser RunWalk is licensed through the NBCUniversal Television Consumer Products Group and Shine America.

This provides guests and residents of the region yet another opportunity to get moving and experience our beautiful waterfront while enjoying a family friendly event. Event organizers were attracted to Erie due to the efforts of the Erie Sports Commission and the support of the Erie Runners Club, which will help aid in the race planning process. "The Flagship City" has partnered with Dan and Jackie Evans, season 5 contestants on NBC's hit show "The Biggest Loser," to offer the RunWalk as a non-intimidating environment for all participants, with longer course time limits to allow runners and walkers to complete the race at their own pace. The Biggest Loser RunWalk is known for all the perks it gives to its participants such as an exclusive Biggest Loser tech shirt, finisher's medal, low-calorie lunch and much more.
This inaugural half marathon/5K race will start and finish at Presque Isle State Park, where spectators and participants can enjoy the scenic trails and sandy beaches right along Lake Erie and Presque Isle Bay. After the race, participants, family and friends can celebrate and relax at the post-race concert featuring former "The Biggest Loser" contestant and Nashville recording artist, Dan Evans. Prior to race day, runners and the community can get inspiration at the Health & Wellness Meet and Greet August 16, 2013. Features include packet pick-up, workshops from past Biggest Loser contestants, Biggest Loser Q & A and much more.
This race is a part of Celebrate Erie, an annual four day street festival centered on downtown Erie. Event goers can sample a "Taste of Erie", enjoy the Chalk Walk, Kid's Zone, fireworks, and local artists/performers. Each evening closes with a free live concert where previous music headliners have included acts such as Three Dog Night, the Beach Boys and country star Craig Morgan.
