NOVEMBER 25, 2012- Monday is the biggest day of the year for hunters from across the tri state area, as they will be braving the chilly temps and staking out the scene in the early morning for the first day of hunting season.

"First day is always the best. Deer can't really sit, getting bumped around because everybody is in the woods," says Josh Overmier.

Overmier, a fifteen year old Albion student, already has his day planned out. He will be waking up at 5 a.m., not to get ready for school, but to hunt. Albion isn't in session on Monday.

"I'm from a little hick town. So we all really hunt," says Overmier.

At the Erie Sports store, workers in the Hunting Department say they've seen a spike in sales as Erieites prepare.

"We've been doing pretty well with outdoor clothing. Hunting clothing has been a little bit better this year than last because of the snow," says Erie Sports Store Fire Arms expert. Tom Gullifer,

Tom Gullifer of the Erie Sports Store says the Game Commissions change of rack size on the buck will be helpful to hunters.

"You may see a few more larger bucks come out.  People taking on larger animals," says Gullifer.

Unlike last year, this year we will have snow for the first day of hunting season which will ultimately help most hunters.

"It makes it easier to see an animal that normally blends in.  Without the snow, they're going to stand out a lot easier and see how and if it gets shot on an animal... Easier to track it," says Gullifer.
