November 27, 2012

The Millcreek School Board approved an action plan tonight following reports that shows the Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit has been withholding millions of dollars from school districts...

MillcreekTownship's Solicitor, Tim Sennett was called upon to hire Jim Schaeffner's accounting firm to review certain accounts that were questionable concerning the IU and the 17 school districts that are a part of it.

Sennett tells us the Schaffner report states that the IU had been over-billing individual districts... more than $11 million.

After the individual audit was completed... officials are now working on an action plan...

Which requires a review of accounts, and return of the money out of those accounts back into the district...

The Millcreek School Board was the 15th out of 17 school districts to approve and move forward with the plan.

Officials say the IU is cooperating and trying to solve the problem at hand..the $11 million will be distributed evenly back into the school districts by the March 1 deadline.
