Opening Statements Began In Rachel Kozloff Case Today
Opening statements in the Rachel Kozloff trial began this morning.
The Erie County District Attorneys Office says that Kozloff was a vengeful girlfriend.
Assistant District Attorney Brian Krowski addressed the jury saying, on the night Kozloff shot her 31 year old boyfriend Michael Henry, he was trying to break up with her.
Krowski described Kozloff as a jealous girlfriend who was desperate for a relationship with Henry.
According to the Commonwealth, Henry and Kozloff had a rocky 8 week relationship.
The Commonwealth told the jury when Kozloff went to the police station the next day she denied being the shooter but admitted being at Henry's apartment.
Krowski continued saying Kozloff shot Henry twice, while he laid unarmed on his sofa bed, paused, and then fired two more shots at him.
Kozloffs lawyer Jamie Mead deferred his opening statement, and District Attorney Jack Daneri began questioning witnesses.
