Retired Army Colonel Honored

watch video

12.05.12 A retired army colonel was honored for all his year of service by some local leaders today.

Colonel Pat Potalivo dedicated his life to serving and protecting our country, unfortunately he was not able to make it to the celebration.

He is living out what could be the final days of his life in hospice care.

His brother Bob Potalivo was able to accept the honor on his behalf.

Senator-elect Sean Wiley and County Executive Barry Grossman wanted to recognize this man who, like others, put his life on the line.

Colonel Potalivo was awarded the purple heart among many other medals during his service.

I was sad to see this, not only because Colonel Pat Potalivo is suffering his last days, but also because there wasn't MORE to this story...Don't you think he gave his ALL for this Country to just have a little piece of his story told? Someone should do a big spread of what his accomplishments were and are...handing his Brother,Bob Potalivo an Honor for what his Brother did, seems to me, to be a little short, Don't you think? I think Before Colonel Pat Potalivo passes away, he should be able to tell what he's done, and knowing what other Medals he's received besides the Purple Heart, so we can ALL Honor a man who has given his ALL.. Thank You, Colonel Pat Potalivo, for EVERYTHING you have given us!!!
