Patient's Dying Wish Fulfilled

watch video

December 7, 2012 - A heartwarming story at Saint Vincent Health Center today as a medical assistant was recognized for her work by a family member of a patient.

Joyce Dinello gave Melissa McGahen a surprise today from her sister who passed away.

Joyce's sister Carol was a patient at Saint Vincent diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Because of Melissa's attention, Carol was able to live longer.

Before she passed, her wish was to give Melissa and her daughter the chance to see the nutcracker this holiday season.

"Because Melissa found her, Carol got the gift of time and she was able to make her own arrangements and own plans and make her wishes known to us," Dinello said.

"It makes me feel great that we're appreciated in what we do at the hospital," said McGahen.

It was truly a wonderful Christmas gift.
