Wrong-Way Drivers

watch video

The number of drivers that do drive on the wrong side of the road is alarming... And more often than not, the outcome is fatal..

You might wonder how someone could end up on the wrong side of the road, but it does happen quite often... State Police say it's crucial for you to pay attention to road signs.

It's a scary thought... Thinking of another vehicle headed straight for you, and more often than not... Driving on the wrong side of the road could end in tragedy.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board, close to 400 people a year die due to driving on the wrong side of the road.

State Police Trooper Steve Oler tells us a lot of the time, people involved in a wrong way driving accident have a medical problem...

Another huge problem is drunk drivers. Trooper Oler says DUI is a common factor, he also states with the increasing elderly population in Pennsylvania, they see more of it because of their ages...

But Brenda Bennett of Transportation Solutions says age has nothing to do with it.

She explains when you look at what the top ten reasons collisions are for teens, driving on the wrong side of road is right at the top.
