Linesville Doctor Gets Federal Time for Tax Evasion
The former doctor for the Crawford County Prison will soon find himself doing federal time for tax evasion.
U.S. District Judge Sean McLaughlin sentenced Dr. Richard Moran of Linesville to five months in jail to be followed by seven months house arrest and then one year of supervised release and a $7,500 fine.
Moran pleaded guilty to filing a false income tax
return for the 2005 tax year. In the plea agreement with the federal government,
Moran also admitted he filed false
income tax returns in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Moran admitted to under reporting his income by
about $100,000 a year in each of those years.
