Blighted Home Torn Down

watch video
Demo crews began work about 9:30 Monday morning at 932 West 26th street. The abandoned home had been the basis of many complaints from local businesses, home owners, and those who are simply tired of the eyesore and vandalism. The house was declared blighted by the city in September 2004. Now, nearly three years later, the city officials say they’ve exhausted all of their options, and decided to tear it down. The project was awarded to McCormick Structural. McCormick will clear out all of the rubble, and then it will be up to the city’s economic development office to decide what’s next for the property.
