First Anniversary Of Sr Airman Bryan Bell's Death

watch video

January 5, 2013

One year ago today... Our country, but more importantly a family, lost a soldier, a friend...and a son fighting overseas...     Rick Bell tells us there's still not a minute that goes by that he's not thinking about his son, and even though a year has gone by, he's still feeling an extreme sense of loss.

While trying to hold back tears, he explains there's nothing in this world that's worse than losing a child.

Rick tells us, as a parent... He wanted every detail of what exactly happened to his son the day he died.

And as you can see there's a whole tables worth of letters and emails from the government and the men that worked with him describing the person Bryan was...funny, compassionate, and truly wanted to make a difference.

Fairfield Hose Company Fire Chief Jim Hawryliw says even though it's been a year since Bryan's death, their family...the volunteer fire department wants to celebrate his life, rather than mourn his death.

But Rick didn't believe that this war was winnable, and that it was the wrong path for Bryan... But Bryan believed in his mission, and lived his life with no regrets.
