WQLN Celebrating 40th Birthday

JANUARY 6, 2013- WQLN radio is celebrating the big 4 -0.

It was Sunday, January 7th when engineer Bob Lindey, manager Dave Roland and WQLN President Bob Chitester  gathered at the transmitter at WQLN, and put Erie's newest radio station on the air.

Today, WQLN public radio is located in SummitTownship but back in the early days, there were 4 separate studios.....

The SummitTownship site, Edinboro State College, MercyhurstCollege and at the former OpportunitiesIndustrialCenter.

  Rob Hoff was one of the first "dj's on the air."  He now chairs the Physicology Department at MercyhurstUniversity.

   The folks at WQLN will be hosting a day-long open house.on Monday.

Everyone is invited to stop by and join the celebration and even record a greeting that will be played on WQLN radio throughout the year.
