January 3rd, 2013

Tom Dillen of Jamestown, Pennsylvania was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp.  After being named Honor Man at boot camp, Tom served onboard an aircraft carrier later in the Vietnam Era.  His commitment to service continues to this day, quietly helping neighbors, many of them elderly, with chores like mowing and plowing.

Dan Dillen, Tom's brother, says: "Some of them don't know who to thank. But I'm sure they're thankful that what he's doing is getting done, that they don't even know who's doing it."

Tom is described as still a marine at heart. He lives in Jamestown, is a husband, father and thrilled to now be a grandfather.  Marine Corp veteran Tom Dillen, this week's Hometown Hero.
