It's a work in progress, but the Erie County Executive is hoping an independent study of the county prison will restore faith in the community.

Two consultants from the National Institution of Corrections have been working on this study since January 7th. Today we found out when these results will be released and how it has gone thus far.

County Executive Barry Grossman initially submitted a request to review procedures and employees, this all on the heels of problems that have occurred with seven of the corrections officers.

Two of the former prison guards are facing time behind bars from beating an inmate, and in addition, two people are being terminated from their jobs due to fraudulent time keeping and other job related offenses.

From today's meeting, consultants reported the facility is organized, the staff cooperated, are professional and knowledgeable.

Grossman tells us this study is a step in the right direction toward restoring the system.

Now, those results have not been completely released. The public is expected to receive the full review in the next 2 weeks.

This review is being conducted at no charge to the Erie county taxpayers.
