February 4, 2013 - The City of Erie streets department is working to clear the roads as the steady snow fall continues.

There are about 350 miles of road to maintain within the city limits.

There are 20 to 22 people working around the clock to clear the streets during three different shifts.

It's a different winter than last year, and crews are logging more overtime hours and more salt has been needed.

"This year I've ordered 2,500 tons compared to hardly any last year and the overtime we're going through some overtime money as you can imagine," said Pete Petrianni, City of Erie Streets Department.

Petrianni is asking city residents to be patient as crews work to clear all side streets.
