Volunteers Can Turkey To Feed The World's Hungry
February 5, 2013
It was the goal of hundreds of volunteers at Valley View Mennonite Church to spread love by making sure the less fortunate in the world are fed...
3-500 workers pulled 17 hour days the last two days canning and packing food.. All to feed the hungry all over the world.
29,000 lbs of skinless, boneless turkey thigh meat was delivered to Spartansburg... So volunteers can grind, pack and deliver this meat to the less fortunate around the world.
Coordinators tell us the meat comes in one ton bins in 40 lb bags...
The bags are wheeled in and put into grinders so the turkey could be cubed...then brought in the canner where it's stirred...cooked, weighed and packed.
Workers aren't sure yet where the meat is going... But this isn't their first time around...
In the past they've sent meat to places like Haiti, Honduras, Cuba and the Ukraine..
At the end of the long day... This is a gesture of spreading love to people who have nothing.
