What Could The Future Hold For The West Erie Plaza?

watch video

February 6, 2013

If you happen to drive past the West Erie Plaza... You'll notice that more than half of the remaining stores and businesses stand empty...

Millcreek Supervisor Rick Figaski tells us the new owners VCG Properties will be meeting with a planning commission next week to hopefully reveal plans for the West Erie Plaza...

An update to the zoning ordnance in Millcreek could help the future owner... VCG Properties change the store fronts into residential living...

And that's exactly what Figaski says that VCG Properties... Might do... After acquiring the plaza about a year ago...

He tells us the new owners have been out trying to land tenants... In hopes of turning the West Erie Plaza into some kind of mixed occupancy of commercial development and residency...condos in particular...

Figaski says they could be revealing a plan as early as next week for what they want to do with the space.. As of now, nothing has been set in stone....

But for the past several months, Millcreek supervisors have been trying to get rid of the old BP gas station at 12th and Pittsburgh... Figaski says removing that will give the area more curb appeal.

They should have demolished this eyesore years ago, donated the property to the arboretum, and planted some trees. It will still be an eyesore years from now, mark my words.
