February 6th, 2013

New owners of the West Erie Plaza are hoping by next week they can agree on plans to give the plaza a makeover.

Millcreek Township Supervisor Rick Figaski tells us the new owners, VCG Properties, are looking into landing tenants in hopes of turning the plaza into some kind of mixed occupancy of commercial development and residency condos.

In particular, officials from VCG Properties say they're planning on putting three units in on Pittsburgh Avenue for retail space.

Officials will be meeting with the planning commission next week to reveal plans.

This place has been an urban Pompeii for a decade. Why would anyone want to work or live at West Erie Plaza? They should give it a makeover by demolishing the whole eyesore, donating the property to the arboretum, and plant some trees instead.
