Mercer County Shooting

An officer involved shooting leaves two people with gunshot wounds;it happened last night in Mercer county.

Around 9:00 last night, 911 calls sent a Pymatuning township police officer rushing to 3812 North Hermitage road.

Once on the scene, the officer reportedly heard gunfire in the home.

According to Pennsylvania State Police in Mercer, the officer forced his way in, facing gunfire from the suspect.

He then retreated to his patrol car and waited for backup.

The suspect barricaded himself in the home, but was removed after a few hours by a critical incident response team.

Police say a woman in the home suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The suspect was shot by the officer and suffered a single gunshot wound.

The police officer was unharmed, and there were no fatalities reported.
