McDowell Students Will Tour Holocaust Museum

February 11, 2013

Nearly three dozen McDowell High School students are headed to the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC.

They are embarking on a journey through history that they will likely never forget.

Once a year, the Jewish Community Council of Erie provides a grant to send McDowell students on the trip.

The students got on a bus early Monday morning.

On the way to DC, students will complete assignments preparing them for what they will see at the museum, which has its 20th anniversary this year.

They will spend about three hours touring the museum.

This is all part of a Tolerance 101 elective class.

Our own Chelsea Pompeani is headed to DC with the students and teachers to document the trip.
This year, a total of seven buses in Erie and northwestern Pennsylvania are headed to DC, thanks to the Jewish Community Council of Erie's Holocaust Education Bus Fund at The Erie Community Foundation.
Jewish Community Council of Erie in partnership with The Erie Community Foundation is continuing to raise funds to provide trips to The National Holocaust Museum because of the historical and educational value to young adults in our community.
