Former Cop in Standoff With Police
A SWAT team has entered the cabin near Big Bear, California where police say a former cop accused of murder has barricaded himself.
Police say they have "pinned down" the renegade ex-cop accused of killing three people, including a police officer.
The mayor of Big Bear says it appears Christopher Dorner is currently in a very rural area.
Dorner was apparently involved in a home invasion and car jacking in the area Tuesday.
According to the LA Times, Dorner broke into a home, tied up a couple and stole their car.
Police say they located the vehicle, and the suspect fled and barricaded himself in a cabin in the woods. There was then an exchange of gunfire. Two officers were injured.
Police, the FBI and SWAT teams have been combing the Big Bear area since last week in what's being considered one of the largest manhunts in southern California history.
Dorner has been charged with murder in the death of a riverside police officer last Thursday. He's also accused of killing the daughter of his union representative and her fianc.
He's threatened to kill dozens of police officers in a rambling manifesto posted online.
according to the la times, one of the officers involved in today's shootout has died.
Police say they do not know if Dorner has any hostages with him in the cabin, but they're treating the situation as if he does.
