Victims of Titusville Fire Need Help

watch video
We reported this weekend about a fire substantially damaging an apartment at 313 East Central Ave in Titusville late Saturday evening. The families involved - a husband and wife with a five year old son, and a woman with a 15 year old daughter and 12 year old son - are all now without a home.

Fire officials say the fire spread through the downstairs apartment up to the upstairs apartment.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Vanessa Stoffer lived in the downstairs apartment, and is actually a volunteer firefighter for Franklin. She said nothing could have prepared her to actually be the victim of a fire.

"I've always been on the other side, so it's really weird being on this side," Stoffer said.

Iris Cancel lived in the upstairs apartment unit, and like the Stoffer family, she also did not have renter's insurance.

"I lost everything, and so did my kids," Cancel said.

The Red Cross is helping the family. Stoffer and her family are staying at the Comfort Inn until they can find a new place to live. Cancel is staying with a family member, her daughter is staying with her sister, and her son is living at a friend's house.

The two families say the community has been extremely helpful in helping out them out, but naturally, they need more help.

If you would like to donate to the Cancel family, please donate to the relief fund for Iris D. Cancel at National Farmers Bank.

If you would like to donate to the Stoffer family, please send donations to the Franklin Community Ambulance, which is where the Stoffers work.
