Erie Police Release Name Of Crash Victim
Erie police have released the name of the woman seriously injured in a violent crash Monday night.
Police say 27 year old Amanda Watkins was hospitalized after running her SUV into about 6 parked cars.
It happened Monday night in the 1100 block of West 21st Street.
Police Chief Steve Franklin says Watkins was reported driving erradically when police were called to the neighborhood.
As police tried to catch up with Watkins, she reportedly continued to speed up her vehicle.
After striking several cars, the SUV rolled over and Watkins was ejected from the vehicle.
Witnesses described it as a gruesome and bloody scene.
Watkins was taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment.
She was last reported in critical condition early Wednesday morning, but now the hospital says she is no longer a patient there.
The coroner has not been notified of a death at this point.
However, information on the victim's facebook page indicates that she has passed away.
Erie Police say they can not report on Watkins' condition at this time because the hospital is not releasing information to them now either.
