Domestic Dispute Leads to Standoff in Millcreek Sunday Morning

            MARCH 3, 2013- A man is behind bars after a 5 hour long standoff in Millcreek this morning.

Police rushed to Cobblestone Drive just after three this morning to assist in what began as a domestic dispute.  It then turned into a standoff.

            53-year-old David Sherwood of Erie is now behind bars following the incident.

            According to Millcreek Police, Sherwood would not leave the house located at the 6 thousand block of Cobblestone Drive.

            Sherwood reportedly assaulted the woman inside the home and threatened her with a gun.

            The Millcreek and Erie Police Department SWAT team assisted in taking Sherwood into custody.

            Negotiators were able to get the woman and her children out of the home.

            Eventually Sherwood surrendered himself.

            Sherwood was charged with terrorist threats, simple assault, possessing instruments of crime and recklessly endangering another person.

            Sherwood was arraigned in front District Justice McGowan.

            He was placed in prison with a bond of ten thousand dollars.

            According to reports, Sherwood did not live at that residence.

            He reportedly had a relationship with the woman.

            He lives in Erie.
