March 7th, 2013

It's national Patient Safety Awareness Week, and patients at Health-South Rehabilitation Hospital were slam dunking for safety.

The Erie Bayhawks teamed up with the hospital to educate the patients and their families about the importance of patient safety in the hospital and the home.

The Health-South Safety Slammers played the Erie Bayhawks Securty Chargers in a game of wheelchair basketball earlier this afternoon.

The game was an exercise to show the patients that it is still possible to have fun while staying safe.

The patient dining room was transformed into a basketball arena, complete with a concession stand, referees and cheerleaders.

Two Bayhawks players coached the teams.
