Bishop Persico Launches Audit in St. Peter Cathedral School
MARCH 10, 2013- In light of a local CatholicElementary School owing 6 figures to the IRS, Bishop Lawrence Persico is weighing in.; The IRS reportedly filed a more than $300 thousand dollar lien against St. Peter Cathedral School earlier this month.Bishop Persico addressed the tax issue at each of the masses at St. Peter Cathedral this weekend.Persico says the lien was quote "surprising and disturbing" news.He also says he consulted with Monsignor Biebel and has asked a firm to conduct a forensic audit of the parish.Bishop Persico says in part:"Please remember to keep the Cathedral parish and the CathedralSchool in your prayers over the coming weeks."
The school currently has a payment plan is in place.
One payment has already been made.
