Barn Destroyed By Fire at Meabon Farms
March 20, 2013-A barn fire at Meabon Farms, 13339 Wattsburg Road has
tied up traffic on route 8 and kept regional firefighters busy all
morning.
Initial calls went out shortly before 10 am. Tankers, pumpers and firefighters responded from all directions as the hay in the structure was consumed by the flames.
Water was drawn from Wattsburg borough, and from local ponds to try to drench the burning hay, but the stubborn flames prevailed. The barn was completely destroyed.
The fire was called under control at noon. Firefighters remain on the scene putting out hot spots.
PennDot expects route 8 to be open again late this afternoon.
