Preliminary Hearing Gets Heated
The preliminary hearing for a man accused of killing Teverous Williams gets heated this morning.
Twenty-nine-year-old Michael James is accused of shooting and killing 25-year-old Teverous Williams in the early morning on July 13.
The morning after Williams' birthday, James and 25-year-old Cedis Martin, who is also in court today, were charged with kidnapping, related to another incident that same day.
During the hearing this morning, the prosecution called witness Christopher Barnes to the stand. Barnes claims that after James shot Williams, he handed the gun off to Martin. We're told Martin stood up and began screaming at Barnes and was grabbed by five deputy sheriffs and escorted out of the courtroom.
James was taken into custody in late July after a 4 hour long stand-off at the Downtown Erie Hotel.
James faces numerous charges including homicide and murder.
