Plea Expected
One of the men charged in the beating death of an East Springfield man is expected to enter a plea Monday morning to avoid a possible life sentence.
John Straits lawyer said Sunday that his client will plead guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter and no contest to counts of robbery and conspiracy.
Strait is one of three men accused in the beating death of Robert Ulrich, Jr.
John Straits lawyer said, even with the plea, Strait could still face up to 45 years in prison.
If the case had gone to trial, Strait could have faced a mandatory life sentence.
John Strait is expected to enter the plea in front of Judge Shad Connelly at 11:00 a.m.
On Friday, his brother Jeff pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and no contest to charges of robbery and criminal conspiracy.
