Poverty In Erie

PovertyOrganizations throughout our community are working together to put a stop to the growing issue of poverty. At Wednesdays Rotary Club meeting, The Erie Community Foundation presented its study on the high cost of poverty in our area. According to the study, there was an 11% increase in poverty from 2000 to 2003. The presentation outlined the issues that low income families face, as well as some strategies to help this growing problem. Approximately 1 in 5 people are listed below the poverty level in the City of Erie.
