Erie Cop Not Guilty of Assault, Guilty of Harassment

A suspended Erie Police Detective accused of assaulting his estranged wife and threatening a man with a gun in July of 2005 has been acquitted on three felony counts of simple assault. Since his arrest, Ed Dickens has been suspended from the Erie Police Department. A jury of 5 women and 7 men took about 25 minutes to hand down the verdict. Dickens was found guilty of two harassment charges. Those are summary offenses. Dickens will go back before the court on August 4th for his sentencing.
