We`re halfway through the year, and it looks like all signs are pointing up for the City of Erie`s financial troubles. At this point, the City is still grappling with a more than $2 million in budget shortfalls. One of the biggest culprits is the amusement tax. Only about $50,000 of the half-million dollars expected from the new tax is likely to be collected this year. To close the gap, City Council is now looking at selling more than $3 million worth of tax liens.
