Governor Ed Rendell Delivers Grant Money

Governor Ed Rendell (D), who is running for re-election against Republican challenger Lynn Swann, brought $17 million in checks to Erie County. The money is going to the following five projects: The Bayfront Convention Center - $6.5 million for completion of the center and parking lot complex. Gannon University`s Erie Technology Incubator - $2.5 million to create 600 new jobs and 10 new tech-based businesses a year. Erie International Airport`s International Trade Center - $2.5 million to complete the project. Erie Shipbuilding LLC and the Erie Art Museum also received money for expansion projects. The state legislature approved the money July 1st after negotiations between Rendell and Erie`s legislative delegation.
