breaking news
Escaped fugitive Ralph Bucky Phillips was captured by Pa. State Police around 8pm tonight, off Cable Hollow Rd., in Warren County. The manhunt for Phillips intensified early today when he was spotted running into the woods after ditching a stolen vehicle. He confronted authorities in the woods, armmed with a handgun. Police shot at Phillips but apparently missed him. The daylong search ended when authorities set up a perimeter around Phillips and began to close in on him. With a helicopter over his head, and surrounded by hundreds of armmed officers, Phillips surrendered. Authorities described the suspect as tired and defeated. He will be arraigned in Federal Court in Buffalo on Saturday morning. Law enforcement officers leaving the woods following the manhunt were greeted with thunderous applause from residents of Ackerly, the small town where Phillips was captured.
