Crawford County Silo Fire

6 Crawford County fire departments were called to a silo fire in East Mead Township this morning. Although the fire was small, the danger in containing the flames was high because of the confined space and danger of an explosion. The fire broke out in the 75 foot steel silo on the Mcnamara farm on Hinkson Road. The silo was filled with chopped hay. Special foam was needed to to put the fire out. No one was injured. Spontaneous combustion may be to blame for the fire.
