The first step of installing this raised panel system is removing the floor trim and electrical outlet covers. Then you'll need to measure to determine exactly where the electrical outlets lie on the walls you'll be covering. Next, you begin laying out the precut part.
We need to check for an outlet cover to make sure we're not hitting one of the stiles. We're not since our measurement was at 45 inches. When you're ready to start placing the raised panel system on the wall begin with the end casing. You'll wanna make sure to check it with a level before nailing it in place. And do the same thing when you install the base rail.
A little adhesive on the back of each panel or stile will help hold it into place until you're ready to set the top rail. It's easy to mark where your outlets are on the panel. You can cut the hole in the right place. Slide it over against it. Mark the top and the bottom. Slide it into the side piece above the outlet. Slide it down and mark both sides.
After you bring the marks around grab a square, a couple of straight lines on each mark. That's exactly where our outlet is. Once all your panels and stiles are in place you need to mark the placement of the studs inside your wall. Now you're ready to put the top rail in place with finishing nails. Then the cap rail adds a finishing touch.
Be careful not to tap the nails in all the way with your hammer. Use a nail set to drive them in the last eighth inch or so to avoid scarring the rails. Well, as you can see, it's a fairly simple system. We just need to finish it around the room and then come back with some caulk and paint and we're gonna have wainscoting that looks great, inexpensive and is very easy to do.
