NFG Surcharge Dropped

If you heat your home with natural gas, you apparently won`t be penalized for turning down the thermostat. That`s because the controversial surcharge appears to be a dead issue tonight. In the wake of PUC investigations and heated public hearings, National Fuel Gas has dumped it`s effort to take tack that surcharge on to your bill. A proposed settlement has been signed and delivered to the Pennsylvania public utility commision. If approved by the PUC, the settlement will increase the average residential bill by four percent beginning January 1st. However, it eliminates the request for revenue decoupling, which would have added the surcharge if gas usage went below projected levels.
