The Erie County Department of Health wants to make all public places 100 percent smoke free. On Monday, the board voted in favor of a measure that would ban smoking at restaurants, bars, shopping malls and hotels. Officials say they want to reduce exposure to secondhand smoke. So far, 17 states have banned smoking in all public places. If adopted, Erie would follow Pittsburgh`s lead in Pennsylvania. The ordinance in its first draft, will be sent to the County Executive.
