breaking news
The Bishop of the Erie Catholic Diocese is up in arms over the title of an upcoming high school musical. As a result, promotion of the play at Cathedral Prep has been halted. Students are still rehearsing, but they`re tight-lipped about the name of the play. The 3-time Tony Award winner`s name is "Urinetown" and that`s causing a major problem for Catholic officials who would prefer the title not be linked to their schools. A couple of weeks into production, Bishop Donald Trautman received several calls from people concerned with the title. In a statement made Wednesday by Monsignor Tom McSweeney, Bishop Trautman completely supports the project and play itself, however he just doesn`t approve of the title "Urinetown" and wishes there was another way to advertise the production. The cast and crew of the play hope the public will give "Urinetown" the chance it deserves. The play discusses issues facing today`s society... the title is merely a catchy way to make fun of the play itself and snag an audience. The show is scheduled to run from December 7th through 10th.
