Nitric Acid Spill

A nitric acid spill has been reported at Erie Plating at 656 W. 12th St in Erie. Orange colored smoke was reportedly filling the building. 107 employees have been evacuated safely. Fire and HazMat officials have responded. Reportedly nitric acid poses a respiratory hazard. Authorities have closed W 11th and 12th, Cherry and Liberty Streets. Residents and motorists are being asked to avoid the area. We`ll have a complete report on Action News 24 at noon.
