     Experts involved in our joint partnership program of the NO TEXT North West PA Campaign say teen drivers are three times more likely to be in a fatal accident than any other age group...

 

    The Pennsylvania Legislature recently acted to make it illegal to text while driving...starting in March, if police see someone texting while driving, they can pull you over and give you a citation for the offense.

   

Erie lawyer Eric Purchase tells us this law is the first step in establishing what kind of conduct isn't allowed while driving.

   

Purchase says there has even been studies released about texting while driving in comparison to drinking while driving, and the results may surprise you.

    Millcreek Chief of Police Tom Carlotti explains he's seen a huge rise in car accidents among teens as a result of texting while driving...

 

Purchase says there are three components to distraction when driving...visual distraction, manual distraction and cognitive distraction... And texting while driving involves all three.
