November 12, 2012 - The discovery of a dead body in a downtown hotel led to the arrests of two people for allegedly robbing two Erie banks last week.

Police say one of the alleged bank robbers is dead.

The First National Bank on East Grandview and Erie Bank on 10th and Peach Streets were robbed on November 8th.

Police received a call from an anonymous caller on Sunday to check on the welfare of a man they knew which led to the arrests.

The caller reportedly told police that he had been using heroin.

Police met the caller at the hotel located on 18th and Peach Streets.

That's where a man was found dead in a hotel room.

Information in that room led detectives to Erin Anderson, 27, and Anthony Herrmann, 34, along with the deceased man.

"We know at this time that the deceased person was involved with the two defendants that have been charged in the bank robberies," said Deputy Chief Randy Bowers.

Anderson and Herrmann face charges including criminal conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.

Deputy Chief Bowers said that the individuals admitted to robbing the banks for money to purchase heroin.

No drugs or money were recovered.
